Recipe: Homemade Frozen Yogurt

Hello lovelies!  Since July is (inter?)national ice-cream month, I decided to find a recipe for a healthy version of homemade ice cream.  The recipe I based this off says it’s ice cream but I think it qualifies more as a frozen yogurt because of the yogurt and berries, but call it what you like.

Frozen Yogurt Ingredients

What you’ll need:

  • 1/2 cup of greek yogurt
  • 1 heaping cup frozen raspberries/blueberries/blackberries
  • 1 Tablespoon maple syrup plus extra to top

What you need to know:

Make sure you use a few extra frozen berries and that they are really cold, not left out on the counter too long to ensure a good texture and thickness.  Also, if it gets a bit warm while you’re making it, stick it back in the freezer for 5 to 10 minutes to make sure it’s really cold when you serve it.

The maple syrup can be swapped for honey if you don’t want the artificial sugar but I really love maple syrup so I chose that for mine.  It adds a very different flavor and gives a great compliment to the raspberries.

What you’ll do:

Frozen Yogurt

Put all the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.  Spoon into a cup or bowl and drizzle with maple syrup, serve cold.
